Use Of Ecstasy, Heroin, Synthetic Marijuana, Alcohol, Cigarettes Declined Among US Teens In 2015

(Michigan News, Dec. 16) Drug use has declined among students nationwide, according to the annual Monitoring the Future Study released by the University of Michigan. Illicit drug use, such as MDMA, heroin, synthetic marijuana, and amphetamines dropped among 8th, 10th and 12th graders. Marijuana use has remained level since 2010, with 12 percent of 8th gaders, 25 percent of 10th and 35 percent of 12th graders reporting pot use at least once in the past 12 months. However, marijuana use has surpassed cigarette smoking among these age groups, signifying that teens may perceive marijuana as less dangerous than cigarette smoke.
