Among Delinquent Teens, Whites More Likely Than Blacks to Abuse Hard Drugs

(Northwestern, March 17) White delinquent youths are more likely to abuse hard drugs compared to African-American youths, according to a new study. The research, conducted at Northwestern University, followed 1,829 youths through their late 20's after detention. Scientists found that white youths were 30 times more likely to have a cocaine use disorder compared to African-Americans. It also found that 91.3 percent of males and 78.5 percent of females would develop a substance abuse issue by their late 20's. READ MORE.
