More States Ban Kratom Supplement Over Addiction Worries

(Portland Press Herald, May 20) Kratom, sold as a plant-based herbal supplement used to treat chronic pain, is being banned in six states and possibly more. It's being used by opioid addicts who found relief in kratom, because its uses the same brain receptors. However, as people develop a higher tolerance for kratom, they may return to using opioids and heroin.
