Geneva Man Convicted in Fatal DUI Crash Died of a Drug Overdose: Report

(Geneva Patch, Aug. 8) A 23-year-old Chicago-area man whose drunk driving once caused the death of his two friends has died of a drug overdose. Michael Szot had overdosed on a combination of heroin, fentanyl and diphenhydramine. Two years prior, he was driving drunk and high on marijuana with two 21-year-old friends when he drove his car into a 40-foot-deep lake. He was able to swim to shore, but his friends did not. While he did not serve prison time, he was on a one-year work-release program. It was during that time when he overdosed and died. READ MORE.
