Drug Take-Back Events This Month Net 423 Pounds of Medications

(Riverhead Local, Oct. 24) During the DEA National Take-Back initiative, one community in Riverhead, New York collected 307 pounds of medication and another 25 pounds elsewhere. This brings the total number of pounds to 2,400 since the drop-box installation in 2014. It's available to residents at all hours and days of the week. This effort comes on the heels of the prescription drug abuse epidemic across the country, and teens are often stealing the drugs from homes.
