Bainbridge principals attack troubling spike in student drug, alcohol use

(KOMO News, Nov. 5) On Bainbridge Island by Seattle, the number of students to be suspended for drug and alcohol use on campus tripled within the first six weeks of school. Eighteen students were placed on suspension already compared to six last year, all year. Students were caught drinking or using drugs at school or at school functions, prompting the high school's principal to email the parents and asking them to each have an "honest conversation" with their kids about the dangers of drugs and alcohol.
