Drug and alcohol addiction treatment results improved when teens stopped smoking, researcher finds

(Science Daily, Nov. 21) Teens who suffer from drug and alcohol dependence and who smoke benefitted from lower substance cravings when they stopped smoking. Those who smoked showed significantly higher cravings, which also showed increased risk of relapse. The study was conducted over a two-year period with 195 people between 14 to 18. Nearly two-thirds entered drug treatment smoking a half pack of cigarettes a day. READ MORE.
