Drug abuse is driving a surge in hepatitis C infections, CDC says

(TVN, May 18) The number of new hepatitis C cases has almost tripled in the past five years, mainly due to people sharing drug needles, according to health officials.
“Reported cases of acute HCV infection increased more than 2.9-fold from 2010 through 2015, rising annually throughout this period,” a new Centers of Disease Control and Prevention report said. Infections are rising fastest among young adults. Read more.
