(Kaiser Health News, November 26) Hospital visits due to the drug methamphetamine skyrocketed 245 percent between 2008 and 2015, according to a study in the Journal of the American Medical Association. During the same time the percentage of hospital visits due to opioids rose 46 percent.
The surge in hospitalizations and deaths due to amphetamines “is just totally off the radar,” said Jane Maxwell, an addiction researcher. “Nobody is paying attention.”Read more.
