Frequent Male Pot Use Linked to Early Miscarriages

(HealthDay News, October 14) According to new research out of Boston University, men who use marijuana once a week are more likely to see their partners experience pregnancy miscarriage than men who don’t.
Researchers collected data from over 1,400 couples who were trying to conceive. About 8% of the men in those couples said they used marijuana weekly. And almost 19% of those couples who did conceive had their pregnancies end in miscarriage.
"I think we have enough evidence to suggest there is a potential negative impact from marijuana use on male fertility," Dr. Taraneh Nazem, an assistant clinical professor with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, told HealthDay. "If a male patient is trying to conceive with his partner, I would counsel him to make some lifestyle modifications based on this preliminary data." Read more.
