More Opioids Doesn't Mean Less Chronic Pain: Study

(HealthDay News, May 21) According to a study, increased doses of opioid-based painkillers actually won’t help people who suffer from chronic pain.
"You don't see the benefit, but you do see the risk. Our overall message is, when you're thinking about increasing the dose, you need to realize the risk it brings, too," study author and University of Arkansas College of Medicine professor Corey Hayes said in a press release.
To come to their findings, researchers looked at data in the VA health system from over 50,000 chronic pain patients. There were all prescribed opioid medication between 2008 and 2015. Read more.
