Legal Pot Products Too Potent for Chronic Pain

(Health Day News) More than 90% of legal medical marijuana has more than the recommended amount of THC for pain relief, according to a recent study. THC is the chemical compound in the drug that causes a user to feel “high.”

 After testing 8,500 medical marijuana products, researchers found that a majority had more than 10% THC – more than twice the recommended amount.

"We know that high-potency products should not have a place in the medical realm because of the high risk of developing cannabis-use disorders, which are related to exposure to high THC-content products," lead author Dr. Alfonso Edgar Romero-Sandoval, an associate professor of anesthesiology at Wake Forest School of Medicine, said. Read more.
