Addiction: A Monster That Kills

(WCNC, Nov. 16) Skylar Summerhill was 15 when she started taking prescription pills to get high. T.J. Jernigan smoked pot with friends in high school. Both were typical kids who were just experimenting, but both eventually succumbed to drug addiction that eventually took their lives. It's a common route, experts say, to see kids start with marijuana, move to pain medication, and then to heroin. From 2000 to 2013, drug overdose deaths from heroin quadrupled nationwide.
