(Medical News Today, Jan. 17) New research shows that teen use of marijuana can lead to higher risk of developing schizophrenia. Published in the journal Cerebral Cortex, the study showed that brain changes caused by marijuana on developing teenagers are similar to that of schizophrenia. While short-term effects of marijuana include hallucinations, anxiety, and fear, heavy use can lead to psychosis.
