Cop Tells Parents To Be Vigilant About Potential Teen Drug Use

(Chicago Tribune, March 18) A Chicago suburb police officer told parents at a recent drug awareness event to not only check in with their kids, but look through their text messages and their bedrooms for signs of drug use. He's found drugs hidden in sock drawers, in hollowed-out video game consoles, and behind baseboards. It's also important to recognize the signs of drug use, such as withdrawal from favorite activities, drop in grades, or stolen money. The event was held at Glenbrook South High School, named "Clouds of Confusion," after parents overwhelmingly indicated in a survey that they were interested in learning more about e-cigarettes and vaping, which were not around when they were in high school.
