Heroin tightens deadly grip on county

(Ventura County Star, Nov. 28) In Ventura County, California, overdoses from heroin have increased significantly in recent years. The overdoses had decreased from 43 in 2012 to 23 in 2014, but then climbed back up in 2015 at 33 deaths. Many saw the link between prescription painkiller abuse and heroin, and also observed that heroin did not discriminate against race, geography or financial background - all were victims of the drug.
