(New York Daily News, April 20) New York’s governor recently announced that the state is allotting over $200 million – double the funding from last year – to fight its heroin and opioid addiction epidemic.
During his remarks at an appearance in Suffolk County, Gov. Andrew Cuomo called the current nationwide drug crisis “worse than crack.”
“This is worse than meth, this is worse than old-time heroin,” he continued.
The money will go towards community-based service providers, state treatment centers, counseling programs and Naloxone kits. Read more.
